A lot of people use St. Patrick’s Day as an excuse to do a little drinking. We’re here to go through a few beers and let you know what to get this Thursday. Some Irish Reds, Irish Stouts, and some others that might find at the beer store.

Tune in tomorrow March 11th to find out what my friends and I are drinking and use our guidance to get your beer this week.

Saranac Beer Review

By · Comments (0)

As promised, here is the beer review from the last show – albeit a little late. You can check out the Saranac website for more information on the beer.

Vanilla Stout
Very drinkable stout. Starts with a lot of chocolate and finishes nicely with vanilla. Very sweet taste tempered with vanilla – very mellow and flavorful. Will go well with dark chocolate, raspberries. Dessert suggestion – Black forest cake with red raspberries a/o cherries with Stroh 80 rum whipped cream.

India Copper Ale
Nice dark copper color, medium head. Very strong but subtle hop aroma; not overpowering. Bitter bite with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Spicy taste, strong hop aftertaste. For food – nice black and blue burger or a smoked fish.

Big Moose Ale
Nice dark gold to amber color. Subtle citrus aroma with a bitter hop aftertaste. Medium body, carbonated / biting mouthfeel. Unassumingly packs a good punch. Just under IPA standards – definitely has strong hop characteristics, but does not overpower you and is very drinkable.

Lake Effect Lager
No very noticeable aroma; standard beer. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel, almost like the stout. Very spicy taste and quick aftertaste. Not much of a hop aftertaste, but more malty. Definitely see with some chili.

Rye IPA
Light gold color – decent head. Slight spicy aroma. Very bitter hop taste, big mouthfeel. Hoppy aftertaste, but not too big. Food – nice spicy seafood newberg or spicy shrimp; spicy marinated steak or with Bold Tabasco.

Bohemian Pilsener
Very light, pale gold in color. Not very strong; light compared to the others. Not much of an aftertaste. No strong hop taste; very light in taste and light to medium mouthfeel.
